We got great value for our money with a spacious and comfortable suite room that had an interesting New York theme. The hotel's location in the old part of town was perfect, and the staff made us feel incredibly welcome and at home.

The morning meal could have been better with more choices, as we had to pick either eggs, fruits, or cereals.

We were staying in La Casa Del Farol for 3 days. This hotel is a real jewel. Each room is different and each one is a piece of art. The hotel is located in the very center of Santa Marta but only 150m away from a beach. There is a good choice of restaurants around as well. The owners and the personnel were making us feeling like home there. The hotel organizes personized trips with English speaking guides. We took two - one to the mountains and jungle (fantastic Quebrada Valencia) and the second to Playa Cristal in the Tayrona park. Both were colorful, interesting and very relaxing. We're wishing all the best to the owners and keeping fingers crossed for the hotel.

Nicely decorated, large rooms in a well restored Colonial house. Good food and very friendly staff.

Too expensive specially taking into account that La Casa del Farol hotel is located in downtown Santa Marta which is a popular tourist spot for Colombians, however Santa Marta is really a backwater town, undeveloped and lacking any real historic interest. The beaches are terrible, even the ones close to the town (Rodadero, Playa Grande, Playa Blanca) are not that nice. Services are also pretty basic. In short, a town to avoid unless you are interested in natural parks and then you would rather stay in an eco-hut inside Tayrona Park itself.

This hotel is situated in the heart of Santa Marta's charming historic district, with beautiful restaurants nearby. It's close to Rodaero beach and is a great base for day trips to Tayrona. The spacious rooms are spotlessly clean and decorated in a chic style. The warm and welcoming staff provide excellent service, which includes arranging safe and reputable excursions. The rooftop terrace with a pool is a perfect place to unwind after a day of exploring.

Some of the facilities need renovation to keep up the quality of the hotel over time.

Service was great. The owners and staff go out of their way to satisfy their client. Breakfast is very nice. The rooms are well decorated, very clean. They also have a restaurant just in front of the hotel, which serves excellent food in a beautiful setting. I highly recommend this boutique hotel.

Everything was okay.

The staff on the reception desk were extremely helpful, booking us a private guide for the day to visit a coffee plantation, beach and generally the Tayronne National Park, as well as transportation back to Cartagena. Your lovely waitress knew how much we liked the toasted fruit bread in the mornings and then bought us a loaf of our own to take with us...a very kind and generous thought. The breakfasts were delicious and the hotel was clean and comfortable to return to having been out all day on day trips.

Bit put off by the locked gated railings on the outside of the hotel, but if they are necessary for security, then hey have to be there!

We celebrated the New Year with style in a charming and unique hotel. The staff was amazing, always smiling and doing everything to make our stay comfortable. They even arranged a special New Year's Eve dinner and party for all guests. The facility is really special and in a great location close to the beach and local attractions. We loved the cozy rooms and the pool on the roof with a beautiful view of the city.

The noise level was high due to the busy street in front of the hotel, making it difficult to sleep at times. the breakfast menu could have had more variety for guests with different dietary needs.
